Becoming a world-class coach™
PART 1: MANAGEMENT APPROACH MATRIX
Change cannot be imposed, it must be chosen. The first part of the workshop is designed to win over the hearts and minds of participants and get them bought into wanting to become a coach.
Objectives:
To fundamentally change the way managers see themselves, heir role, their team members, and what they must do to consistently get the most out of them.
Manager Approach Matrix:
Participants will assess their current management approach designed to create the self-awareness required to get them to start thinking and acting like World-Class coaches.
Clarify the critical few beliefs and key behaviors managers must understand and adopt in order to fast-track their journey towards becoming World-Class coaches.
Activities include:
Participants will watch four instructional videos and complete interactive workgroup activities breaking down each management approach type to understand the cause and effect relationship between their current management approach and their team’s performance.
Introspective analysis to assess their current management approach and specific beliefs and behaviors they must change to become a coach
PART 2: QUICK COACHING CONVERSATION FRAMEWORK
Objectives & Activities:
Once participants are brought in and want to become a coach, the next step is to teach them how to seamlessly integrate quick coaching conversations into every interaction to drive marginal gains, generating massive momentum and performance improvement.
Participants will learn the Quick Coaching Conversation Framework
Leave with a basic understanding of the four critical fundamentals they must learn (and ultimately master) to become a world-class coach: Proactive Observation, Socratic Questioning, Intent Listening, and Performance Feedback
Participants will watch two instructional coaching videos, discuss specific coaching behaviors, and then debrief as a class
Workgroup activity: In triads participants will use the framework to practice facilitating quick coaching conversations.
Homework: Facilitate as many quick coaching conversations with team members as possible within the next week and report back to your group.
